Infrared Sauna

What is an infrared sauna?

Infrared saunas emit light that penetrate the cells of your body, heating your body at a cellular level, helping your body detoxify, giving you a deeper cleansing experience. Clients notice an improvement in their skin, energy levels and improved sleep. Find out more about the benefits of infrared saunas below.

How It Works

A traditional steam sauna works by using hot rocks to heat the air in the room – you become hot very quickly because the air in the sauna is so hot. An infrared sauna is different as it uses infrared rays (the good part of the sun’s rays) that penetrate the skin and raise your core body temperature. This is much easier to tolerate for a longer time (45 minutes).

Infrared heats YOU and not the room, so you’ll be able to stay in the sauna for longer and get a really good sweat on.

Our SAGE sauna is full spectrum, which means that three infrared wavelengths are emitted: near, mid and far.

Why do you need all three? Good question! Well each one is good for something different.

Near Infrared

Near infrared wavelengths mostly penetrate the skin, improving skin cell health, the renewal of skin, tissue growth and wound healing.

When you go to a skin care clinic and they use LED light therapy on your blemishes – that’s near infrared they are using.

Mid Infrared

Mid infrared wavelengths penetrate deeper into the body than near infrared and are therefore good for increasing circulation and blood flow.

When used on a consistent basis, mid infrared sauna therapy has been shown to significantly increase blood flow and reduce muscle and joint pain. Healing can occur faster because mid infrared penetrates deeper into soft tissue where inflammation occurs, increasing the blood flow to that area.

Far Infrared

Far infrared is the longest wavelength which penetrates the fat cells causing vasodilation, where the fat cells vibrate to expel toxins, resulting in the greatest levels of detoxification and aids in weight-loss.

Mental Health Benefits

Studies have shown that regular sauna use can improve mood and reduce levels of depression and anxiety.

There are peer reviewed studies to suggest that infrared sauna use can lower the risk of dementia, reduce symptoms of chronic fatigue and improve focus and attention.

Physical Health Benefits

Near infrared is good for healthy cell immunity, wound healing, skin purification and pain relief.

Mid infrared is good for pain relief, improved circulation and weight loss.

Far infrared is good for weight loss, detoxification, better circulation, reduction in blood pressure and relaxation.

What To Expect

Here at SAGE we have dedicated Room 12 as our infrared sauna room. Our spacious sauna caters for up to 3 people so this private room can be booked solo or bring extra friends for $15 each. Sharing the sauna with a friend is a great way to catch up without distractions and enjoying health benefits while you chat 😊

We provide fresh towels, water and a cool, damp refresher towel for you to cleanse your body after your sauna session.

You can simply lock the door, relax and enjoy your infrared experience.

An infrared sauna is also a great way to unwind before or after your massage, resulting in a deeper healing experience as your body and mind relax. Simply book both sessions back-to-back online or phone us to arrange.

Afterward you can relax and reflect in our cosy Welcome Lounge with a cup of delicious organic herbal tea.
